The i-Usahawan programme is an initiative introduced by the Ministry of Energy to provide business opportunities for aspiring Bruneian Malay youth entrepreneurs to competitively participate in low risk (ring-fenced) contracts or tenders with companies in the oil and gas industry, non-oil and gas industry, as well as the GLCs or statutory bodies and the government sectors.

The i-Usahawan programme was launched by His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on 1st August 2018 in conjunction with the 13th National Youth Day 2018 celebration to support the nation’s efforts towards fulfilling the Brunei Vision 2035 (Wawasan Brunei 2035) goals of enhancing the economy and developing local capability by providing better infrastructure and guidance for the youth entrepreneurs to succeed.

Through the i-Usahawan programme, the participating youth entrepreneurs would undergo SME Training offered by Darussalam Enterprise (DARe) such as the Micro Bootcamp and Start-Up Bootcamp, among others prior to participating in the tenders. Youth entrepreneurs will be able to develop and enhance their entrepreneurial skills through continuous mentorship from contract owners throughout their business contract.
